Midnight start as Two Rivers Travel takes part
in the first UK Driver CPC training course
At one minute past midnight on Wednesday 10th September, Richard Zarywacz of Reading-based Two Rivers Travel took part in the very first Driver Certificate of Professional Competence training course to be held in the UK.
10th September 2008 is a watershed for the UK transport industry, as from this date all bus, coach and lorry drivers are required by European law to undergo additional training in order to stay on the road. Run by Novadata, one of the UK's leading providers of transport related services, Richard began his Driver CPC training at 00:01am on Wednesday 10th and finished at 8am. This makes Two Rivers Travel the first coach operator in the Reading area to comply with the new legislation.
"We take passenger and road safety very seriously at Two Rivers Travel," says Richard Zarywacz, "My fellow director, Trevor Adams, and I had already approached Novadata about CPC training. When they offered us a place on the very first course in the UK and said that the registration time was 11:30pm on Tuesday 9th it was quite a surprise. However, attending this course is very important to us, and Trevor is also booked in for his own CPC training."

Driver CPC training is part of new EU legislation that promotes safer driving and improved standards, and must be completed within 5 years. The course run by Novadata contributes to the new Driver Certificate of Professional Competence. Subjects covered by the course include safe and fuel-efficient driving, Legal Requirements and Health and Safety, passenger safety, service and logistics.
